Face Mapping: Breakouts Explained

My skin has be so unpredictable lately. Aside from being susceptible to the winter cold and getting super dry all the time, I feel like I've been breaking out more than usual. In search of answers, I scoured the internet to find this article from the beauty queen herself, Lauren Condrad. She explains face mapping, the idea that looking at where exactly your skin breaks out can help determine what is causing it to occur.

1. Forehead
Two words: stress and sleep deprivation. To keep your forehead clear, be sure to get at least 7 hours of sleep at night.

2. Above the brow
This area is mostly affected by your immune system. You'll notice a breakout before, during, and after a cold. Drink ample amounts of water and eat immune boosting foods.

3. Between brows
You'll notice breakouts here if your overindulging in unhealthy foods. Cut back on sugar and dairy rich foods to keep this area clear.

4. Cheeks
Your cheeks are linked to your respiratory system, so breakouts are sometimes occur due to air pollution (so interesting!).

5. Chin
Hormones affect the sides of your chin. Here, breakouts more commonly occur during your period.

I found this article so helpful and will definitely be tracing future breakouts.
