Benefits of Coconut Oil

The recent craze for coconut oil is due in part to its array of health benefits. While I've always been a fan of coconut, from flakes to cake, little did I know of the oil being a versatile superfood. After reading and hearing about its beneficial uses for your hair, skin, and all around wellness, the health nut in me was up for trying it out. I now like to think of coconut oil as a hidden treasure for beauty and it can so easily been incorporated into your daily routine as a moisturizer, hair mask, and so much more.

+ hair
I started out using coconut oil for my hair with hopes to keep it healthier. Since using it on a weekly basis throughout my scalp, my hair feels much more shinier and softer. My hair has always been super prone to breakage and falling out, and I've noticed a significant change in my "shedding." If you're like me and looking to grow your locks, coconut oil will stimulate growth being it helps to prevent split ends, contributing to hair length.

+ skin
Just recently, my face was super dry. Although I keep my skin consistently moisturized, no lotion was seeming to do the trick. A friend recommended I use coconut oil to rid of flakiness and help exfoliate my skin. Despite my face being super oily, my dryness cleared up after a few uses and my face felt much more nourished. The vitamin E properties found in coconut oil work to keep the skin smooth and protect against dryness. Let's just say, coconut oil will be my best friend for the winter.

+ wellness
Aside from beauty, coconut oil contributes immensely to improved health. The fatty acids work wonders, helping with weight loss, better brain function, and more. Incorporating coconut into your daily diet, whether it be by the spoonful or as an addition to a smoothie, will reap amazing benefits for your all around wellness. Coconut oil is said to reduce appetite, burn fat, and rid of harmful pathogens in our bodies.

Are you in on the coconut oil trend?

  1. I LOVE coconut oil! I use it as an eye-makeup remover, face moisturizer, and hair mask.
